Also, at most refineries and terminals, it is common to see tank trucks from several major brands as well as independent haulers and discounters all filling up at the same rack. There are indeed some differences in additive packages, but in truth most of these all work the same. The only real issue is how much additive is added. A certain minimum level is required in all grades and brands. Most majors and several independents super dose their premium grade, while some majors super dose all grades. Super dosing probably reduces long term fouling of the valves and fuel injectors, but the effects are not something you will notice right after you switch from one brand to the other.
